Dr. Barry Fisher reintroduced bariatric surgery to Las Vegas in 1989 after it had been abandoned due to limited success and frequent problems. He performed the first gastric bypass in Neva da in 1990, the first Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass in Nevada in 1999, and the first Lap Band in Nevada in 2001.
