Dr. K.M. Kavoussi has been providing care for infertility and gynecology patients in the Austin area for over 25 years. After his residency training at the Bayview campus of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, he completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Maryland. Dr. Shahryar Kavoussi grew up in the Austin area and has returned to practice here after having completed his residency training at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and a 3 year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He is board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility.

Dr. Parviz Kavoussi grew up in the Austin area and has returned to practice here after having completed his residency in urology and a 2-year fellowship in Andrology: male infertility, sexual medicine, and microsurgery (vasectomy reversals) at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He joined Austin Fertility & Reproductive Medicine, where he does not offer services in general urology, but solely provides care for men in the areas of infertility and sexual medicine. Austin Fertility & Reproductive Medicine is the only fertility center in Austin with fellowship trained specialists in male and female infertility and reproductive medicine. Dr. Kavoussi received his M.D. from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and subsequently completed his residency training at Texas A&M Health Sciences Center, Scott & White Memorial Hospital. Dr. Kavoussi’s publications have included textbook chapters, as well as peer-reviewed articles in multiple journals. He also has taught post-graduate courses at national meetings and has a seat on the American Society of Andrology Public Affairs and Policy Committee to guide and promote the best clinical practices in the fields of male infertility and sexual medicine.

In addition to his clinical interests in the field of reproductive medicine, he has been involved in basic science and clinical research in the areas of erectile dysfunction, male infertility, and premature ejaculation. His basic science research has focused on alternate pathways that may cause erectile dysfunction as well as ground breaking work on how prostate cancer surgery may result in erectile dysfunction at the cellular level in an animal model. He has also investigated new technologies on a cellular level to help improve the efficiency and success rates of sperm retrieval in an animal model to ultimately be applied to men without sperm in the semen to allow these couples to undergo IVF with the man’s sperm. Dr. Kavoussi has been selected as an expert to peer review manuscripts for publication in the Journal of Sexual Medicine as well as infertility and sexual medicine manuscripts in the Journal of Urology.
