Women’s health journaling workshop offered Sept. 10

A free workshop teaching pro-active health journaling techniques will be offered Wednesday, Sept. 10 at the Shawano County Library.

The session runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Created by the Wiscon- sin Women’s Health Foun- dation as a mental wellness program, “everywo- man’s journal” workshops encourage women to be advocates for their health.

Each participant will receive a journal along with a companion guidebook and women’s health information resources designed to raise each woman’s awareness about her mental and physical health.

“Women are truly the heart of the healthcare system within the family In fact, we make over 85 percent of health-care decisions,” says Sue Ann Thompson, president of the Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation and former first lady of Wisconsin. “With that level of care-giving responsibility, it is easy for women to neglect themselves. We designed the everywoman’s journal to give women permission to stop for a moment, to reflect on the current status of their mental and physical well-being, and to create a plan that nurtures their health.”

The foundation is a not-for-profit organization that presents women’s health education and outreach programs, funds women’s health research and provides scholarships for women in academic medicine.

Registration is required. For information or to participate call 1-800-898-8818 or e-mail bkolehouse@wwhf.org.
