ION EXTRA™ TRIAL DEMONSTRATES THAT ELECTROLYTE BALANCING IS THE WAY FORWARD IN THE FIGHT AGAINST HYPERTENSION

Prestatyn, North Wales (PRWEB) August 12, 2010

In an independent study of the impact of electrolyte balance intervention on 74 subjects with an average age of 63, who were pre-hypertensive or hypertensive, the analysts concluded that the results of the trial supported the manufacturer’s claim that ion eXtra™ significantly reduced blood pressure in cases of hypertension. The objective of the study was to determine whether electrolyte balance intervention significantly reduces constant resting blood pressure in hypertensive subjects. The results clearly show that 73 of the 74 participants achieved a considerable health gain from the supplementation, some achieving a reduction of systolic blood pressure as great as 40 mmHg.

High blood pressure (hypertension) is the major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. In 2002, it was named “the number one killer” by the World Health Organization (WHO) in The World Health Report. The risk of stroke, heart attack, kidney failure, blindness and dementia is significantly greater if you have high blood pressure.

Hypertension is a major public health issue which is expected to increase considerably in the coming years. In 2000 the estimated number of adults living with high blood pressure globally was 972 million. This is expected to increase to 1.56 billion by 2025 spreading at an alarming rate from developed countries to emerging economies such as India, China and African nations.

Essential hypertension is directly associated with the percentile loss of skin capillaries, also known as rarefaction. The major cause of capillary loss is an electrolyte imbalance and a poorly performing perspiratory system. Sweat ducts become blocked by improperly conserved electrolytes and damage the surrounding capillaries. If these small blood vessels die then there is less room in the circulatory system for the same volume of blood and blood pressure will rise. ion eXtra™ is a multi mineral supplement capsule in compliance with European Community Food Supplements Directive (as enacted). ion eXtra™ is unique because unlike any other treatment on the market it addresses the actual cause of high blood pressure which is capillary loss.

The ion eXtra™ capsule is designed to stabilise electrolyte balance by providing a continuous signal of essential ions to the body’s cells for 24 hours as it passes through the digestive system and to establish this stability over a period of about one month. Once electrolyte balance is achieved blockages in the perspiratory system are cleared, capillaries quickly regenerate and blood pressure returns to normal levels.

This treatment is likely to be readily acceptable because it does not make drug type adjustments to body control systems and as a result has no side effects. ion eXtra™ has a medium term lasting effect on essential hypertension from a one month course of treatment. In the medium term, blood pressure will not automatically rise again as a result of discontinuing the supplement.

In this trial in all test cases except one, systolic pressure was lower at the end of the trial than it had been at the beginning. In 8 cases the reduction was 10 mmHg or less, in 18 cases the reduction was between 10 and 20 mmHg, 28 cases were between 20 and 30 mmHg lower, 12 cases were between 30 and 40 mmHg lower, and in seven cases the reduction in blood pressure was more than 40 mmHg. There was a clear general trend that the greater the initial degree of hypertension, the more the pressure falls in absolute terms after a course of ion eXtra™.

In four cases, there was either a small increase of the diastolic press or a decrease of just 1 point. However, in each of these cases there was a significant drop in systolic pressure. In 24 cases there was a drop in diastolic pressure of between 3 and 8 mmHg, in 26 cases between 8 and 13, in 20 cases the reduction was between 14 and 24 mmHg. There is a loose correlation between the reductions in systolic and diastolic pressures. In the case of diastolic pressure there was no discernible trend in reductions related to the magnitude of the pressure.

Graeme Ward, Managing Director at ActiveSignal Ltd said, “This study confirms our findings that 95% of all cases of essential hypertension are caused by capillary rarefaction and that the restoration of the micro-circulation is the major priority in managing high blood pressure. Our product ion eXtra™ is the first of a new class of medical intervention that works exclusively by signalling changes in cellular behaviour using intelligent ion signalling. This has the dual beneficial impact of creating long term changes in cell behaviour as well as being guaranteed to be free of side effects.”
