IRVINE DERMATOLOGIST NISSAN PILEST APPOINTED PRESIDENT OF DERMATOLOGIC SOCIETY OF ORANGE COUNTY 2012

The members of the Dermatologic Society of Orange County elected Nissan Pilest as their 2012 President. The Society is home to many of the top dermatologists and academic researchers in Southern California and has been active in promoting physician leadership and involvement in community action since 1983.

As President, Dr. Pilest will be in charge of society meetings, presentations and speaker selection, membership expansion and the development of community outreach and education.

“I’m humbled to be selected by my esteemed peers and delighted to be involved with fellow dermatologists who maintain a strong interest in staying actively involved in the changes within the practice of skin care, skin disease and cosmetic dermatology. We’ve never before had such a primary involvement in managing both skin health and skin appearance as we do now.

Research is taking us into the arena of tackling skin conditions in ways we wouldn’t have dreamed of 20 years ago. It’s exciting to be able to offer solutions that previously didn’t exist and it’s rewarding to be able to see patients regain lost self esteem and pride in their appearance.”

A few of the Dermatological Society plans include fostering accelerated levels of Continuing Medical Education among members and non-members; broadening educational reach and resources to the public to help them make appropriate decisions about skin treatments, and collaborating with teaching and research physicians to reach a consistent level of care and treatment protocols to provide the best possible results for dermatology patients.

Dr. Pilest is joined by Dr. Vip Soni who will serve as Vice President.

Dr. Pilest has over 30 years’ experience as a Board Certified Dermatologist, beginning in 1979. He is an active Assistant Professor at UCI Department of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and a member of the top professional societies in California and the U.S.

His private practice, Total Dermatology, is located in Irvine, Ca. Dr. Pilest is an active participant in the professional speaker program for Allergan and Medicis and is a training physician for the various dermal fillers, Fraxel lasers and Candela lasers.
